We might think that we are immune to such persecution here in the United States, because we are so far away, and our own government would never permit it. I used to think that. But the actions of our government in recent years has caused me to think otherwise.
There are two things connected with this mass beheading that make me think the US is not far behind. First, our president had no reaction, other than to go golfing at a luxury course. Second, those in his administration have refused to use the word "Christians" when talking about this horrific event, instead calling the victims "innocents."
Folks, we need several things right away. We need a president who is not afraid to take a stand, even if it means offending those in our country who are of a different faith. We need a Congress who is willing to say "enough," men and women who will stand up in defense of their country and do the right thing, even if it is not politically expedient.
Most importantly, we need Christians to wake up and get on their knees. We need Christians to stop believing that something like that could never happen here. We need a spiritual awakening in our country and in our world...yesterday.
And it starts with me.
